I think it's worth it but it's exactly up my street. I would recommend playing an early section, 1-3, a few times to get into the swing of it. Playing it like Gears is as dull as dishwater.
Sorry I got shit with the challenges. Doubt i'd beat your guy's ones anyway. Anywho, yeah, Vanquish. I'm glad at least more people have got stuck into the unique action game/cover shooter mashup and come out slightly gutted it's a failed franchise.
I only played LoS for the first time last year.....
Right, I have started. Seems I'd finished it on Normal before but hadn't really done the optional challenges it gives you on each level or found all of the extra stuff hidden about. So I went back to the beginning on the save I already had and started trying to get 100% on the earlier levels.
Took a while to work out how the combat worked again, and I've forgotten the better combos, but I was getting into the swing of things after a while. Can't work out how the time challenge on the first major boss is possible, but will have another crack at it.
@Jon: the colossus? Use summon at the start then you'll need to do fast and perfect climbing to be able to do it in time. Obviously if you don't have a full crystal shard thing, you'll have to farm pieces somewhere. I forget where. I remember some level with some big werewolves having pieces.
I've done quiet a few levels on hardest setting, and still have a lot of challenges left to do. Was trying to get 1000G on the game at one point. The challenge on Frankenstein machine or whatever it was pissed me off though and I gave up.
Seems to be a few people starting SotN at the moment. Perhaps we could make this a general Castlevania month, for any in the series that you've been meaning to play.
I might switch to SotN too. Be good to hear how people playing for the first time are getting on.
