Oh those fucking visor bits - absolutely pointless. I think I just dont get on with Platinums design choices - regardless of their usually awesome game mechanics I hate the characters and cut scenes in this, found Bayonetta a major turn off from the game and Mad World was pretty "meh" too.
The visor bits are a weird one. I think they added them in just because Gear's had something similar and they're probably useful for masking texture loading.
Ok, so let's go for 3.1 this coming week. It's a good section, despite the annoying bit at the beginning (although look around for a pangloss statue while it's going on).
Tonight is last chance to post scores for 1.3.
21700 is my final effort.
Add your final score here and I'll put them all in the OP tomorrow.
I'm not sure about 3.1 now. I don't see where the highscores are coming from, and it may be a case of exploiting the respawning grunts at the beginning to rack up points. A speedrun on YT has nowhere near the same scores as the top of the leaderboard.
3.2 might be a decent choice instead. It's short - under 4 mins - and a simply case of taking everything out as quickly as possible.
My top was 17,000 something. I don't want to have another crack until I've finished it cos it will reset my weapon progress. Maybe in the wee hours I'll get over 20,000.
There's no way I'm getting thru Vanquish tonight. I'm trying to play it like it's 3 years ago. I haven't got the skills to rocket slide across the battlefield killing robots left and right. I've been dying a lot.
I actually finished the last level the other day, but don't have an overall score because I didn't play through from start to finish. I'll be doing that next.
After that, if there's no more interest, maybe I'll move on to another game next week, or just cry or something.
I'm trying to rush through my hard campaign game to get some last trophies then will attempt the weekly challenge. I'd happily do it now were it not for selecting a level wipes your current campaign progress.
I'm playing it as well! Doing one Act per sitting, just about to start Act 4 and I'm enjoying the action now I'm sliding around the place like a nutter. I do have issues with some of the really rather bland design choices though, enemies and environments are often (but not exclusively) utterly forgettable.
Good stuff. I know what you mean about the blandness too. It's all a bit samey and grey and most of the robots could've come from any generic sci-fi universe. It relies totally on its mechanics, which are for the most part very good.
I'm heading towards the end of Act 3 on my full run. Have got crap scores on almost every level so far, but there's no point going back now.
I've been away but I'm still playing. Gonna finish it before I start doing individual levels again. I'm up to the bit where I'm shooting the feet on a big spaceship.
It's taken me seconds the last couple of times. If you have a rocket launcher ready at the moment the weak point detaches and runs around, it's pretty much all over.
Finished my complete run on Normal. Thought I made a mess of quite a few levels, so was pleasantly surprised by the outcome on the overall leaderboards:
I'm pretty sure I could improve on 90th, but there's no way I'm going through the whole thing again. Still, quite a transformation considering I gave up on this half way through the first time I played it.
