I would start at the beginning. That’s where the best stuff is and also eases you into the dynamics and relationships.

Line of Duty is a lot. You don’t notice while watching, thanks to decent writing, but a LOT happens in a small number of episodes.

I thought it was a slower measured start to the show compared to other seasons. Usual interesting stuff going on but less obvious motives at the moment. Intrigued.

Chis is the new OCG.

Lots of traps so far. It looked so blatant that Terry was a patsy I’m glad both of the cops saw past him (I think there was a similar one last year).

Kind of interesting subplot with potentially farida doing in Kelly McDonald as a revenge thing but I’m sure there’s more to it!

Also fun to see arnott drinking a corona.

Semi-binged the first series and it was OK. Held the attention well but was let down by some small but stupid writing decisions. That one of the coppers you thought was ok was going to turn out bad was as inevitable as death and taxes, but when some of the characters did career-jeapardising things for no real reason it got a bit silly. That Arnott suddenly thought Gates was really nice and then lied that he played any part in his kidnapping was plain fucking dumb and I nearly turned it off. Still, the ending could've gotten extremely silly but refrained from going batshit mental.

Will be watching the next series, 7/10.

Yup S2,3 and 4 are all a big step up. 5, I’m hoping, was a bit of a mis-step and seemed to be written for fans of the lore first, with cohesion and script quality a little further down the line.

Se2 more cohesive and generally better written but still those silly moments creeping in from time to time. Again enjoyable in that there is no ridiculous plot twist ending. I watched the whole series in one day so bonus points for that. 8/10

Its interesting you say that about the silly points because i’ve always noticed those as I’m watching but kinda forgive them once it’s over. Not sure its because it’s a British tv drama that doesn’t completely suck or what? Gets by on the good will generated elsewhere? Dunno.

Apart from S5. That just went full on shark hopping.

I was thrown for a bit because I don’t really remember everything from previous seasons clearly and can’t be arsed to rewatch them. But I had plenty of ‘oh it’s that guy/girl!’ moments that dredged up half-memories.
