This being released has boosted sales of Endless Legend. Which is hilarious.
Haha after not really clicking with Beyond Earth I picked up Endless Legend and have really enjoyed it so far. Have only played a couple of hours but I can see why its getting such good reviews. The interface is a million times better than the cluttered mess of Beyond Earth too.
*Sorry for the long, rambling post, hope it makes sense.
I haven't played a Civ since 3 so bought 4 and all the expansions for about two quid in the Steam sale, saw a mod that sounded interesting called Fall From Heaven 2, yer typical dark fantasy setting with good, neutral and evil races so thought I'd give it a quick go. I was up until 4am.
Gather round and heed my words, I bring you a Christmas tale from the distant land of Erebus.
I chose the evil race Shaim, humans who are mainly mages and summoners and their goal is to bring about Armageddon through any means possible. They cannot build any warrior units apart from the very first most basic and their unique building is Planar Gate that can randomly summon different kinds of demons that are under your control.
I started at the bottom of what I would discover to be a large continent, my plan was to expand as much as possible without opening my borders to anyone. Eventually I became aware of about eight other civilizations. I focused all of my research into the arcane, starting to build mage guilds and planar gates in all of my cities.
Around this time, three events happened that would shape what was to come. Firstly, a message came up saying that the Great Red Dragon Archen had taken up residence in the Barbarian(Orcs) state of Arpeteth and they had began to worship it. Secondly, the leading Civ who were Centaurs asked me to declare war on the Malaha, who were the lowest ranked Civ, I was about 4/8. I agreed without intending to actually do anything because it's best to side with the biggest, right? Finally, I founded the Ashen Veil religion, essentially the worship of demons and destruction.
I was starting to constantly have problems with barbarians attacking my cities, they sacked three out of six and I was starting to struggle, I couldn't understand where they were all coming from. I thought I'd scouted all the continent I was on but I'd missed a spot in the lower right so I sent a scout to investigate. Eventually he stumbled upon Arpeteth and the Great Red Dragon who swiftly burnt him to cinders. Barbarians flooded another two of my cities and claimed them so I was left with a single city to my name, Svinaik, a small city located at the north west coast.
I agreed to open my borders to everyone out of desperation in the hope that other civs would fight back against the barbarian horde. Some did but the greedy dwarves demanded a tribute of gold which I refused so they declared war. My planar gate had summoned a Tar Demon (giant amorphous black blob thing) which was defending my last city. The dwarves were at the gates, I could barely hold them back when I was attacked from the sea by a fleet of Mahala ships which I had stupidly declared war on earlier.
All appeared lost, my last city made it's last stand but it was only a matter of time until my civ fell. I hadn't read up on anything in advance and completed research on something called the 'Infernal Gate' which was further on from the Ashen Veil religion. A message appeared
Do you want to be reborn as Hyboren?
I had no choice but to choose yes.
I was respawned on a different continent as a new civ, a civ of demons which had been summoned into the world. I was now a huge red, winged, horned monstrosity known as Hyboren, I founded my first city and explored the continent. I seemed to be completely alone, I've begun building my demonic empire in preparation for vengeance.
Any tips on getting the mod working @TheDJR? Ive selected it in the "load mod" menu and clicked OK, which closes the game. When I restart though the mod isn't loaded.
It's in the right folder now but still no joy. The link on the desktop doesn't work, and neither does trying to load the mod from in game. I'm going to have to have a fiddle.
