I made bacon jam, it's bloody delicious. I also tried another American plastic cheese recipe. All goes well I'll be eating bacon jam and American cheese toasties shortly.
-steamed white roll*
-bbq sauce
-Frenchs mustard
-buffalo tomato slice
-iceberg lettuce
-double double smashed patty wild style**
-bacon jam
-steamed white roll
Phone battery low so no pic but proper dirty burger and tasted awesome.
*today's burger discovery, take a cheap white roll toast in the pan after the burger then chuck a couple of tablespoons water and cover, turns the bun from dense and crumbly to light and fluffy.
**two three ounce balls of beef pressed into patties in a hot pan with a heavy object while one side cooks the other gets a good coating of mustard then flipped, the cooked side gets a slice of home made American cheese then stacked.
I hate coming in here, my ability to cook goes as far as putting the oven on and there's fuck all of interest when it comes to eateries locally (Automatic is very good, but at the price it asks its not a regular occurrence).
Get a pan smoking hot on the stove, meanwhile take 3 ounces of mince shape into loose balls and season well.
Put a small nob of butter in the pan and add the beef, squash the patties down with something heavy, I use a small saucepan. put a libral covering of Frenchs mustard on the beef and cook for 2 minutes.
Gather your toppings, sauces and slice your bun.
Flip the patties top with american/plastic cheese and cook from 30 secs to a minute depending on how well done you want it.
Stack the patties, remove from the pan and leave to rest. if there's loads of fat wipe most out with a kitchen towel or if there's not a lot chuck in a bit of butter and toast your bun cut side down in the pan.
put a splash of water in the side of the pan and cover, steam for 30 seconds. Be careful not to get the bun wet, just a touch of water to create steam. This really does make a diffrence, i used cheap white flowered rolls from lidl snd they turn from dry and crumbly to soft and light, still not a patch on a proper bun but you gotta make do.
Time to assemble, add your sauce of choice. I've gone BBQ, left the mustard off because its already on the patties.
Tomato, sorry nick its staying
Lettuce
Double Double Wild Style Patty
Topped with the bun crown and bacon jam, or a bit of diced onion if you've not got a bowl full of bacon jam.
So there it is, my quick (10 minutes from beginning to end), easy, cheap and dirty burger. Who's up for a go.
