I take it you don't have a 360 as every single game lets you turn the music off (or change it to something else) and keep the sound effects.

I do know that because you told me the last time I threw my toys out of the pram about this. :) (thanks for that btw)

I mostly had iOS games in mind. For some reason it's relatively common on iOS.

How whenever you try, in most games, you can't look up the skirts of female NPCs or whatevs.
  • After Bioshock let me pick up and listen to audio diary collectibles while still playing the game I really hate how so few games let me do the same.
  • Not being able to save right now. Not in 10 minutes ... Now.
Then having to play from a checkpoint point. Why?
Sometimes here. Sometimes Lurk. Occasionally writes a bad opinion then deletes it before posting..
  • When you try to quit and it gives you that unsaved data warning, even though it just auto saved so you save anyway just to check. Computer should know it just saved

With iPhone games ones that turn off my music automatically when I load them up.

  • I don't mind odd achievements, but I hate when it only gives you like 1 point or 3 points. Just ridiculous.

That and boring 'Kill x amount of enemies/monsters' missions.

    Ahh, well, yeah, fair enough.

    As mentioned elsewhere, escort missions.

100% agreed.  Even the one in Skyward Sword was weak, and the end of level three on the original Halo can fuck off.
  • Unlockables are fine in epic single player campaigns, to clarify. It's just when they affect multiplayer balance, or hide part of the game you should have had from the start.

Worst offender in the entire industry: Street Fighter x Tekken. You can pay to unlock a damage boost that a non paying customer couldn't have. The same sort of thing is equally stupid in multplayer shooters.

    Holy shit that's retarded.
I'm falling apart to songs about hips and hearts...
  • Yeah-huh.

Most of us have dropped the game over the way the business model has been rolled out.
  • Backgrounds were wasted on that title.
  • that too many games take themselves so seriously.

  • Not too many moving all the time though otherwise I get lost.
  • On XBLA games sometimes, when you play through the demo, buy the full game and then have to play through the demo section again.
  • Even Anarchy Reigns is pretty subdued.

One of the reasons I liked Enslaved so much.
  • That HUD is not subdued. Platinum are incapable of restraint in that crucial department it is a reason they attract my constant dismay
  • You've actually played it now though so maybe there are some on/off toggles?

There seems to be such an emphasis on realism and depth of story. I liked shooting monkeys in timesplitters 2 or firing paintballs in Goldeneye much more than picking up any weapon in COD.

  • That rings true with GTA, where the more realistic it's become the more boring it has too.

    There's a good reason games aren't real-life simulators.
  • Auto-rotating cameras.  I have camera control on my right stick, let me be in control.

Dungeon Siege III allowed me to turn it off - good.  Whereas, my main memory from GTAIV was fighting the damn auto camera.  Lots of games do it
  • games where the difficulty doesnt match me. as in medium isnt a challenge but hard isnt fun. may not be reasonable but there ya go.

Good call. FIFA Career Mode springs to mind - it's too easy on the 'normal' levels but it you pump it up to Legendary, the CPU starts running rings round you, regardless of what team it's playing as.

    It's bullshit.
