Played my fair share of multiplayer Dreamcast in smoky bedrooms but Powerstone never clicked with my lot. Played it a bit but it never became an mp staple.
For me and my mates it was all fighters for dreamcast multilayer - soul calibur, capcom vs snk and power stone. Happy days.
However it was really ps2 pro evo 2 that had an insane multilayer scene in the day. Even more than sf2, it seemed everyone had this and a ps2 so even non gamers would happily crowd round a sofa for a big tournament at a house party. I think that was peak games as cool thing for me.
Real OG's* had the Japanese Power Stone 2 and spent their time in I.T. class in high school printing out the 100+ page gamefaqs translation and item mixing guide.
*fucking sad fucks like me
Soul Calibur was the game me and my also-DC-owning best mate played to find out once and for all who was The Best (his Mitsurugi always fucked me up) but Power Stone was for the laddddssssss
Two player versus Typing of the Dead on Dreamcast was one of the greatest surprises I've ever had in gaming. It isn't just an add on - it's quite a clever mode.
Not sure if this is the best thread for this little bit of news, but ScummVM now runs Westwood's Blade Runner point n click game. Linky
In work so I dont have time for anything particularly eloquent but man that game was fucking amazing.
I played it in college. Nothing like the atmosphere it created. I would play it at night in my room, headphones on, lights out, curtains open. Being able to look sideways and see rain-soaked streets and the neon bars signs fit in wonderfully with the setting of the game. From what I recall, the game varied on playthroughs, different characters did different things at different times. I remember being wowed by the visuals at the time, animated prerendered backgrounds, but it all felt quite organic. Gonna give it a bash again I think.
