The Taken King, Destiny expansion that sounds stupidly promising.JonB wrote:What's a TTK?

Got my eye on Firewatch but that can wait until next year unless it reviews outstandingly. Tembo is off the list after the Edge [5].

In fact this may be my list too. Though why is SMB free??
I have mixed thoughts on this. For whatever reason, we are happy enough to play iterations of the same genres, and the developers and publishers are happy to oblige. Or, if you choose to look at it the other way, the debs and publishers like to make iterations of the same genres, and we are happy to oblige. Either way, we regularly see companies - or just some of their staff - moving on to make near identical things. Now, if you're Bungie, you can trade on your company name, so when you make another Halo you can call it Destiny and the Halo crowd will still latch onto it. For most of your market, who won't follow studio names, a franchise name will at least help retain your audience. Does it matter if Ubisoft are making Rainbow Six Seige, or if they called it Tactical Squad? Red Storm have moved on from Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon to make... The Division. Kept the Tom Clancy bit, just in case. There can only be so many fresh ideas, especially when there are just so many games out there. What does it matter the name on the front?WorKid wrote:What is depressing is the virtual absence of new IP.
