If porn has classics then Pretty Peaches is probably it.
  • I seem to remember Fargo having lots of posters and they were all good.

For some reason I hadn't got around to watching Heat

Watched the "Director's Definitive Edition" on Prime.

I think I avoided this in the day because I expected to be disappointed. I'm not. It's very good. I don't think it's a stone cold classic but it's really very good. Glad I made the time. The only bit that grated was the bank escape - how many bloody cops would it take to catch them? They went down like nine-pins. But I forgive the film that as it was a great action scene.

Oh god Heat for me is a classic. I still recall that bank shoot out at the cinema. The audio was ridiculously good. That slowly accelerating soundtrack as they exit the bank the sound of the gunfire as the shootout happens was something I hadn’t experienced before (or probably since) in cinema.

I neglected to mention the soundtrack. Yeah - it's pretty much inspired.

I always reserve "classic status" judgement until I see something a few times. I'm wondering how different the version I watched is to the theatrical cut.

Yeah, it’s a tricky one too as it’s also based on personal experience and how or when you first watched it. For example, I watched 2001 for the first time a couple years ago properly for the first time and while it was technically incredibly impressive, for me, it wasn’t a classic, even though I know it is by most people.
  • Heat is excellent.
That sound from the guns as they fire down the street is so good. That and Val Kilmer's hair.
  • Love that film. Went to see it at the cinema and I'll never forget it. Real guns and you can tell. I think it was the start of my LA obsession after so much New York-ness in the 80's/90's.

  • We should have an LA/NY film-off.

We had that print in our living room until a few months ago when we decided the room was too dark overall. It's now a Splatoon art print because am baby.

Good call, Alien needs its own room really.

A long time was spent in bedroom not so far away gazing at this one.

    Romance!!!

The use of blue and orange echoes ESB’s palate and draws you to it like a campfire in a blizzard. Didn’t know at the time the Han and Leia pose was ‘borrowed’ from Gone With The Wind, but it’s about feelings instilled and on that point this art delivers.

Weird - I remember this version... this might have been for the re-releases.

Heat is incredible. I regret being 9 when it came out because I'd love to see it in the cinema.

Miami Vice (2004) was not great, but not as terrible as people remember, but the audio was amazing.

    I'm such a Mannfan I watched Blackhat. That's bad.
  • I think we used to get wide posters, Americans got tall. Magazines and comics had to use the tall version if they were going full page.

Aye - if it got a big screen re-showing I'd go.  Kilmer, Trejo, Sizemore and Kevin Cage is a top tier gang lineup too.  More bad-ass than Res Dogs maybe. Pacino's team were the equal of them in just presence and look.

Thinking about it today (always a good sign after watching a film) it's getting better in my estimations.

What a cast. Voight, Portman, Azaria, Wes Studi et al. Epic.

Definitely do it. I’m a big Miami Vice fan, I think it’s underrated. It’s definitely his most lacking in substance film, but some of the set pieces and the final scene felt like what he was always trying to achieve with the TV show back in the 80’s.

    I’ve never rated this poster.
I find it actually a little visually confusing.
The crack in the egg bares no relationship to the movie egg and how it opens etc... the meaty bbq grill thing below it, at first glance looks, to me, like a row of cinema seats.
Why is there an egg with a bad ghostbusters effect floating above a row of cinema seats?
Is what my brain says to me every time I glance at this poster.

  • Yep I'd have to go with Panty on that one, it is a pretty dreadful poster for such an iconic film.

Man, I love Alien’s title sequence, and so much of that is down to Goldsmith’s haunting, desolate score.

Apart from the man in the suit bit in one of the cuts (directors?)

Ian Holm is a fucking Don in it.
