It's a bit out of character for me getting this as I've always been against laptops.

Where's everybody getting SimCity from?

I'd rather go digital as I would prefer to play it when I want as opposed to having a disc in the drive...

Is that how Anno works? I was worried when I opened the case and saw nothing but a disc in an envelope that I may have to keep the disc in. Back in the day we just used to go online and use no-CD cracks...

I dunno sorry. I bought a digital copy, but it's stand alone and doesn't go through Steam or UPlay.  But I think even the CD versions now just install everything on the HDD then hit an authorisation server every time it loads. Weirdly Anno 1404 isn't on UPlay either.

Just got off the phone with Amazon, yes HDNL have offered the exact same excuse as when they didn't deliver my Apple TV, the driver is off sick. It's bullshit, they simply don't deliver to North Devon on Saturdays. I've kicked right off with Amazon and told them I don't want anything of mine to ever be delivered by them again regardless of the day. It's one thing saving money when you're paying for it but when the customer pays for a Saturday delivery and your delivery company simply doesn't bother attempting to deliver it is a fucking joke...

According to my email from Amazon HDNL and Yodel are the same...

I guess I'm going to have get my PC out of its cupboard and get some formatting under way.

I've already got Anno (from Amazon) but I was waiting for my new laptop to arrive to play it on, HDNL/Yodel simply haven't bothered even attempting to deliver it.

I have got my PC out of the cupboard, dusted it off and done a fresh install of windows so everything is running fast and tickidy-boo, just finalising some drivers and then Anno will be getting installed.

I am going to cancel the laptop and instead buy another TV to dedicate to my PC and consoles...

You aren't having a lot of luck, I bought Anno from Amazon and was playing it within 24 hours of clicking buy. 

Forums suggest the Direct X package that's on the game's disk needs to be installed, if you haven't done it already.

Again, console made for playing games and little else, PC large complicated construct capable of doing lots of things. More to go wrong.

Re Anno, how long as it sat there on the loading bar? Mine looks like it's not doing anything for a bit on that final bit as well. And that's running off a pair of RAID0 SSDs

Like I said earlier I have done a clean install today so there may be a few tweaks needed, in fact having just turned it off it's doing 72 updates before it actually shuts down. I'll give it another go tomorrow.

Double check your drivers for graphics card etc. Are up to date to (sure you probably have but worth a reminder just in case)
