I've barely played a local two player game in years (apart from Fifa) but I had a right laugh with a mate recently playing the demo of Wrecked on XBLA (is that the name, I can't actually be sure).

Destruction Derby is good fun to watch, which got me to thinking about Dirt Showdown. That has a Destruction Derby style mode to it, but rather than last man standing, you earn points, and if you die, you come back in. That would probably be really good.
Blur has some thing in it where rather than being on a track, you have a bowl kind of thing, and score points by hitting the other people with weapons. -
