Tbh I'd react the same way to an announcement of PDS HD as I would PDS2. By throwing people onto the stage as blood sacrifices.

It's a game that deserves a much wider audience, that's for sure.

NOTHING is in the same league as the Shenmue III reveal. Every game mentioned will either be made, was always going to be made or is just a fantasy title that would be a good idea and someday might get made.
Even TLG and the FFVII remake fall into the was always going to happen category.
Shenmue is different. It was beyond all logic to believe that it would ever happen.
Pop over to Shenmue Dojo and find the thread where the reveal happens (announcement comes about page 15 iirc)
to see grown men cry and people desperately trying to find logins they haven't used in 10 years just to tell their stories of how the announcement felt to them.
Shenmue III is the holy grail for a multitude of reasons. Nothing else comes close.

Twilight Princess is nothing like Shenmue. If anyone crying about it seriously thought there would never be another Zelda, they need to get their heads seen to.

I agree the story is different but I don't think it's reasonable to say the outpouring of emotion is only when the story relates to a resurrection of a death. It's the claiming of a monopoly of a particular feeling I find weird.

The story relating to zelda is one of perceived betrayal and then redemption.

When ocarina of time was made it was reasonably heralded as a masterpiece. It probably affected more people than shen as well. At space world for the gamecube launched "fans" were teased with the evolution of ocarina in the mould of a higher fidelity ocarina but a realistic style. The crucial moment was the reveal of wind waker which was seen as an absolute betrayal by some of these fans (fans of same kind that love shenmue). It was not until the following zelda for consoles was demoed at e3 that those fans could feel like an old friend could come back.

Up until shenmue, twilight was the apex emotional reveal of E3 history. It arguably still is but history has dulled the memory or those that dismiss it probably felt about it as those that don't care about shenmue now.

All I'm saying is: it's not unique and to claim otherwise is to poopooh the way others have felt about a game that you do now.

Shenmue III shouldn't be happening. The fact it is. Is a gaming miracle.
