Birmingham is getting its first trendy burger outlet. Original patty men, winners of best street food burger 2014 opening up in Digbeth soon. I thought I was over the whole burger thing but I'm a bit excited to have some local talent to visit.
Lots of variations. Use Serrano ham, not chorizo. Don't scramble the eggs, fry them but only on one side and time it so the potatoes are just cooked then tip the eggs on then so they break and run through them. The spuds should be hot enough so that the eggs continue to cook a little on them.
It's was a fucking delight. Really did the potatoes into fine chips and the serrano was a salty delight. Just a big mush of food that I'm glad is in my body right now
Scrambled eggs on toast with a load of cholula and a slice of toast with marmite on the side. Pretty straight up, but really doing a job on the hangover.
Made a Gordon Ramsay recipe for fish pie last night, included haddock, salmon, shrimp and scallops in a vermouth laced sauce. Was great on a cold Saturday night.
Sunday roast this evening. Roast pork, crackling, roast potatoes, carrots with almonds, brocolli and home made gravy. Not exciting, but serving in ten minutes, should be good.
@mannaboy. Fish pie can be a beautiful thing. It's such a shame that Mrs Skondo hates fish, other than, would you believe, fish fingers or smoked salmon.
Sounds good live. My wife makes a root cake, using beetroot, parsnip and carrots. That tastes great. I might see if she'll switch the carrots for butter but squash.
Yeah sounds a plan. Beetroot is a good idea, add some colour.
The main reason I made it was I hadn't planned how far a butternut squash could go. Managed to make a veg curry, cake and use it in a pasta bake. Will buy again.
Making a chilli with the wrong ingredients, but it's tasting great. Instead of carrot and celery, ginger and spring onion. Instead of smoked paprika and cumin, onion seeds and mustard powder. Instead of tobasco, sriracha. I'm 5 hours in and it's looking good.
I made a batch of butternut squash risotto tonight for Isla's dinner for the week. Ive never had it myself but after tasting the leftovers I'll definitely make some for me and Sarah soon.
