Nothing may be contributed to this thread if it hasn't been learned directly through your own play (or by someone else earlier in the thread). The idea is it'll become our own little wiki of thoughts (without quite that ease of editing!). But it'll be our library of things we can truly say WE FOUND THAT to.
Rules then:
- key one: no external spoilers
- even with stuff you have found, but a little bit delicate the first week or two I guess - it'll be nice if people can pop in and note things they've discovered, without having the stuff still ahead of them ruined. I guess we can ease that once a majority have got past a certain point / completed it
- if you've read some external stuff, then I don't think you should be absolutely banned from contributing - but bear in mind if there are things you may have subconssciously absorbed.
Things I hope we can master ourselves:
- basic play mechanics - e.g. do you still roll better if < 25% encumbered and all that jazz, how do the soapstones now work, what about even healing etc
- import of starting gifts
- lots of secrets - key locations, invisi walls etc., hidden areas, embers, ...
- good weapons / rings / armour / magic
- upgrade craziness
- covenants (if they exist)
- PVP & PVE tips
Suggest we just begin by doing standard play throughs - but we could get carried away and encourage people to specialise differently to e.g. cover different upgrade routes.
As we're (mostly) all in the same time zone we should all do an update say, at nine PM and all give our impressions and queries. Would make for a nice break from the game and see what nightmares everyone's having!
Should mild spoilers you've discovered yourself be spoiler tagged in here. Such as a tip on how to beat a boss or discovering a new area? As people in here may not wish to know stuff like that. As you may not want to go into the spoiler thread. Or should we just be economical with our descriptions?
Depends on what you think is a spoiler. I kind of fucked Dark by watching a video of how to get the Drake Sword, so even if someone comes on and posts 'Hey ace item x is located here!' I'll be a bit gutted.
I want to go in fully blind, but what happens when I need help or advice? Where do I go? The main thread?
I approve of this thread, cause I still haven't watched a single trailer, read any previews, or checked any screenshots. Media blackout actually worked this time.
As for day one: I'll do what I did with the first run of all three versions of Demon's and Dark - create a slim, red-headed female of whatever class starts with the lowest SL - because I like to choose my points, not the game (certainly on the first run anyway).
I always concentrate on Stamina/Endurance and try to get a high res shield (the idea being: if you can block for longer, it lets you become accustomed to new/unknown enemy attack patterns). First thing on my shopping list is something curved and Katana-like - the Uchi for example. That said, the Killij is still my favourite all-round weapon.
As I level up i concentrate on Magic, because FromSoftware seem to make 95% of enemies weak to it.
I still can't believe this is less than a month away. I'm trying not to think about it. lol!
This is the thread for me, I'm still spoiler free & counting the days. Its been a long wait & the only thing that can do undo all my efforts is Titanfall. Must stay strong. DS2 was pretty much always gonna be my sign off old gen game & Tittyfall, if good, was gonna be my cherry popper. The hype is not helping, but I get very limited time to solo TV game these days & those days must belong to just one game at a time. Gotta stay on target.
