The first hour or two in this is a bit shit really but that's par for the course with most RPG's if we're honest. But now it's really starting to get it's claws into my brain. Durance is a pretty interesting companion.
This game is seriously everything that was promised in the initial pitch and then some. Anytime someone starts having a go at Kickstarter I'm going to remember it had a part in birthing this.
Chanters get a Phrase at level 5 that doubles reload speed for the whole party. I've given everyone firearms and that is just as ridiculous as it sounds. No way that isn't getting nerfed in the patch.
Only arquebuses, wheelock pistols and blunderbusses. Think renaissance tech rather than Victorian Steampunk. Much slower to fire than bows and crossbows and with a shorter range. But big damage and unlike those two they can penetrate wizard's shields.
Right, I'm about six hours in and really like this. I love the way your party have conversations with each other as your walking around as per Baldurs. My lot I have with me at the moment are a right interesting bunch, and the story does seem to have me somewhat invested.
If I'm to criticize I would say the combat isn't a patch on my previous isometric love affair with Divinity: Original Sin, but it's still perfectly fine. There seems to be a wealth of classes as well with really in depth customization.
Ah for shame. I've gotten lucky with no real bugs to speak of for me beyond the engine ones like double item clicking stat removal. And a few debuffs that had infinite duration.
Even on hard it starts getting a bit too easy around the halfway mark I've found. At least if you're doing a few side quests. Enemies having strong resistances but not immunities (you can blind eyeless enemies for example and cause fire damage to beings made of fire) is a design choice I don't really agree with.
Durance is one of the best written RPG characters I've come across in a quite a few years. He'd fit right into Planescape.
The stronghold is a bit shit really. They should have just put a pub above Od Nua.
Very much intrigued by Torment: Numenara too... though I have a hunch it's going to be shit. The writing will be good even if the game ain't great though, so I'll give it a punt I guess.
