Another random kendrick Lamar album is good. I don't even know what they all are. Mix tapes, odds & sods. Whatever. They're generally very listenable. Compton state of mind.
Seriously, if you can, follow Chuck on twitter. He's having awesome beef with Hot97 and "urban" radio in general. It's where I found that Kool Moe Dee link. He's causing an awesome ruckus.

Really interesting stuff in there, but the style of the article is heavy quoting of Kempton flowing into the article "authors" words and it is frustrating.
Seriously, Aussie hip hop that's actually good. have been out of the loop for a long time, and for a long time it was filled with a lot of BS, but damn if these two albums aren't awesome.
Mantra is much more of a traditional indie hip hop sort of thing. (With a few standout divergences style-wise.) But the dude is supersharp, and very clever with his flows. And spends a good chunk of the ablum, you know, rapping about actual things, as opposed to how awesome he is.
Likewise Joelisitics. He's been a round the block a few times, and on the scene slightly longer than Mantra, and this is a real right time right place album for me. Musically, it has a touch of the Aesop Rocks about it, which is no bad thing, lyrically, it's very much of the time here, not afraid to get political and talk about the state of the nation. (helps he's a very sharp dude, so he actually has some insights, as opposed to "politicians lie, innit") Just fucking great.
Big battle rap event that happened yesterday called Total Slaughter. Something to do with Eminem/Slaughterhouse/Shady Records. Pay Per View I believe. The fucking thing is nowhere to be seen online apart from out of sync, filmed on a potato rips on Youtube. From what I've seen it's fucking pish anyway but the lack of organisation seems fully retarded.

Copywrite and Surock: Murderland. Cracker of an album. Misogynistic in spots even more than usual for an underground album, but when it's just on a "I'm shithot" tip,it's gold. First track, leroy, is amazeballs.
Also, Kendrick has another random album of bits and pieces. One day I will sort through them all, and there's gonna be a good 20-30 bits of amazing.
I have Us, but I fancy buying another Brother Ali album on payday. Should I buy Shadows of the Sun (love the track 'Dorian') or Mourning in America? I've already downloaded the latter once but it was some sort of crappy instrumental version that Amazon listed as the wrong thing.
Seriously, can't go wrong. One of my fav albums of recent years. So many killer tracks, and it will introduce you to the excellent Jake One on production.
(I'm pretty sure I posted about this earlier, actually)
Entertaining podcast on the NBA has a little fun in the off season. Jalen Rose knows his hip-hop and came up at the same time as a lot of awesome artists that I know too.
This "tourney" is awesome fun.
(I'm shattered the Roots are getting slammed by Tribe, FYI.)
Never mind that, they're gonna knock out PE as well.
Don't get me wrong, if you take the solo albums of Mos and Talib Kweli, then you can see their output stands up to anyone's but as a group, one album, hmmmmm.
