Apparently the corner strategy from Threes! all but guarantees that you'll hit the 2048 in a few attempts, so it's not even a very well thought out rip-off.
Here we go, my absolute first ever attempt at this using the Threes corner strategy:
This is a terrible version of a wonderful game. If you're enjoying it, do yourself a massive favour and spend the £1.50 it's going to cost you to download the vastly superior, far more challenging, and more slickly presented original. The iOS version is here and the Android version is available here. Not only will you get a much better game, you'll be supporting original game design.

Essentially, only use two directions as far as possible (the third should be used sparingly, the fourth only when absolutely necessary) and try to build your large numbers in a corner as they're easier to match there.
