I actually think that Jim Carey could have been a better Joker than the Riddler.
The Mask was a really odd adaptation. The film is amazing fun but I'm so glad I watched it before reading the comic - I'd definitely have been "WTF have they done to my favourite ultraviolet conic?" aged 17. These days post Deadpool you probably could do a proper adaptation.
Just finished watching The Marvels. Can't help thinking that it felt like it was a miniseries compressed into a pretty meh film. It was fun in places, but if it hadn't had a space station full of cthulu cats as it's saving grace then I'd have been even less impressed.
I feel it was the worst MCU movie so far - just felt forced and manufactured.
I felt it would have worked better without the Batman stuff. Engaging performance (and movie for the most part) but the stuff that more heavily linked to Batman (When he meets Kid Bruce for example) were clunky as hell. And it never felt like that guy would become the Joker.
I liked it more on the second watch.
Detach expectations or the idea that it's in universe (agree with the binning Master Bwuce stuff) and it's a decent movie.
I'd certainly prefer more of this and The Batman than DCU turds. Unless they are WW84 level funny bad of course.
Every word of this sentence presses my nerd buttons into a Vince McMahon gif right up until I realised it's being masterminded by the guy who's been doing all the DCEU films before Gunn's takeover.
Still, live-action, hopefully blood-soaked, Turtles film incoming. Will watch.
That looks brilliant. I read an interview in which the director claimed it's not "Deadpool 3", rather it's a kind of superhero buddy cop movie featuring Deadpool and Wolverine.
Can't wait
Not everything is The Best or Shit. Theres many levels between that, lets just enjoy stuff.
As much as I have very low expectations, I’ll watch it. The schtick is beyond tired, but it’s still two incredibly well-cast actors. Nobody else could play Logan, or Deadpool.
