They'll have been shiny happy people as they sold them to you, not realising it was the end of the world as you knew it. You'll have gone for a drive and asked yourself "what's this imitation of life?" Have turned around and made a stand in the shop. They'll have had a bad day in there and wondered if you paid with strange currencies.

There. Everyone else can fuck off with their puns.

We all enjoy these pun trains. Now because of this, everybody hurts.

    You're a monster
  • Bit of a Stumble there Reg, I already did that one. And it’s hardly The Worst Joke Ever.
  • Yay! I can be the miserable badger this week posting making sure everyone knows just how much I dislike him!
  • I've done this enough to know that my favourite Dylan track is pretty much locked:

Then I think I'd probably have Blind Willie McTell, the hugest inexplicably-omitted-from-an-album track ever.  Bob on the piano, a metronome also on the piano and Knopf on acoustic guitar all busy bottling lightning, then presumably Knopf bottling it during the final track selection process for Infidels:

Third place goes to another rarity :eyes:, which Youtube isn't being so kind with - Seven Curses from The Bootleg Series 1-3.

So not greatest hit at all, just favourites, but that's pretty much how I've played both threads from the start.

    Enjoy!
  • I could probably narrow my fave Dylan songs to 15 or so, but some obvious ones first:

Great song writer, but i don't like his voice.

Hard agree, hence why my choice is this:

  • Its the oldest of takes but the truest of takes.
  • Always a fan of this one, probably/maybe not my decision but dropping anyway:

  • Motorpsyco Nightmare from another side of dylan.
    Love that wee story.
In fact the whole of side b of that record is excellent, my back pages, I don't believe you, ballad in plain d and it ain't me babe.

Be difficult to pick out a favourite as too much to choose from.

  • The right vote, tbh. Thank you.
  • I like Subterranean Homesick Blues. I’m a fan of Like a Rolling Stone. But there’s only one winner here, for me, and it’s The Times They Are a-Changin’.
  • Don't think twice it's alright for me please.

    I vote gav.

I've heard Gav sing and I vote for Bob.

My Bob Dylan list.  Ignoring general critical opinion (i.e: Blonde on Blonde = best), the six tiers as I see it, with three selections in each and a few extra categories because there's something worth listening to on every album:

    Top tier

Highway 61 Revisited (favourite track: It Takes A Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry)
Bringing it All Back Home (favourite track: Mr. Tambourine Man)
Blood on the Tracks (favourite track: Lily, Rosemary & the Jack of Hearts or Tangled up in Blue)

    Second Tier

Love & Theft (favourite track: Mississippi)
Blonde on Blonde (favourite track: Visions of Johanna - my all-time favourite Dylan)
John Wesley Harding (favourite track: I'll Be Your Baby Tonight or Drifter's Escape)

    Third Tier

The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan (favourite track: Girl From the North Country or Oxford Town)
Time Out of Mind (favourite track: Tryin' to Get to Heaven)
The Times They Are A-Changin' (favourite track: When the Ship Comes in)

    Fourth Tier

Desire (favourite track: One More Cup of Coffee (Valley Below))
Street Legal (favourite track: Where Are You Tonight? (Journey Through Dark Heat))
Modern Times (favourite track: Thunder on the Mountain)

    Fifth Tier

Another Side of Bob Dylan (favourite track: To Ramona)
Nashville Skyline (favourite track: Tonight I'll Be Staying Here With You)
World Gone Wrong (favourite track: Delia)

    Sixth Tier

Slow Train Coming (favourite track: Slow Train)
Together Through Life (favourite track: Beyond Here Lies Nothin')
Bob Dylan (favourite track: Song to Woody)

The 'Finally Dropping Down to Three Stars' Tier

Oh Mercy (favourite track: Shooting Star)
    Tempest (favourite track: Duquense Whistle)
New Morning (favourite track: If Not For You)

The 'Less Consistent But Still Worth Checking Out' Tier

Planet Waves (favourite track: Forever Young)
Self Portrait (favourite track: The Mighty Quinn (Quinn the Eskimo))
    Infidels (favourite track: Jokerman)

    The Rest

Good as I Been to You (favourite track: Frankie & Albert)
Shot of Love (favourite track: The Groom's Still Waiting at the Alter....never got on with Every Grain of Sand)
Christmas in the Heart (favourite track: Must be Santa)
Shadows in the Night (favourite track: undecided thus far)
Empire Burlesque (favourite track: When the Night Comes Falling From the Sky)
Down in the Groove  (favourite track: Shenandoah)
Knocked Out Loaded (favourite track: Brownsville Girl) Saved (favourite track: Solid Rock)

    The album I haven't Got/Heard :(

    Dylan (1972)

    ..And The Worst

Under the Red Sky (favourite track: Wiggle Wiggle - total and hilarious waste of Slash, but I enjoyed dancing to it with my daughter when she had colic)

+ The Best of the Official Bootlegs

The Bootleg Series Vol.1-3 (Rare & Unreleased 1961-1991) (favourite track: Blind Willie McTell. Seven Curses too, which completes my top three Bob along with Johanna and McTell)
The Bootleg Series Vol.9 (The Witmark Demos) (favourite track: Farewell)
The Bootleg Series Vol.7 (No Direcion Home Soundtrack) (favourite track: Tombstone Blues alernate take)

The 'Not Sure Where to Put it'

Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid Soundtrack

A quick glance suggests I did Oh Mercy and Another Side the dirty.  Rough & Rowdy Ways goes into the 5th tier with Murder Most Foul smashing any individual track he's recorded since Mississippi.

Young Dylan looked like my old mate Neil, who was a bit of a wideboy knob and didn't release any music. Like Dylan.
