I am straight up into this. Making me learn m&k (there is controller support).
Elemental damage, random loot/level layouts. Satisfying is simple combat. You have an orb and a grenade, the grenade does poison damage. Scrolls improve bonuses/stats. End of each run you spend things to improve for next run.
Really fucking good fun and dirt cheap. Still in early access.
It is. I love how enemy grenades force you out of cover. I reckon the dash is pretty important but I'm struggling with it a bit. Have you tried it with a controller?
The standard of gaming these days is pretty amazing. I was jaded about 2 yrs ago but now VR is finding it's feet and we've got all this early access amazeballs stuff.
What I will say is it doesn't really go out of it's way to explain itself. The stuff with elemental damage and the like, you just have to figure it out.
Just buy it. DS is right, it's great. If you even slightly like fps games (which is me - I like them but they're no Slay the Spire) then buy it. It's the first game that's got me using proper mouse-keyboard skillz. I still had to change the key bindings because I'm a klutz but I'm getting there.
It's horribly addictive because it's good. The combat is way better than I thought it was going to be. I was going to give them some slack because of the roguelike and rpj elements but it's really the main hook. The AI in particular is solid in a way you don't even see in some AAA games. The various enemy types remind me a bit of Halo in that they have very specific functions and you have to take them apart as a mixed group. Certain types will charge while others might stay back and lob grenades and it's managing this on the fly that makes it so good.
It's roguelike in that there's a set number of levels and getting to the end is difficult and needs upgrades. It's rpg in that there's a permanent skill tree that you can grind out. There is variation in the levels on each run but it's more permutaions than actually random generation.
For the money it's a fucking bargain. It also has co-op which I suspect will be fantastic. I don't know when games got this good and this cheap but this is a belter.
