Really sorry to hear that Moot. Hope both dog and cat are on the mend soon.
Is the cat an outdoors cat by chance? I remember before we left there UK there was a spate of cats being deliberately poisoned by people. Cats go into people's gardens, people get pissed off and start feeding the cats, then after awhile leave out meat that's been poisoned for the cats to eat.Â
Cats are clever animals, they won't touch anything they can tell might be bad for them. You certainly won't get them licking weedkiller or anything like that.Â
It just might be worth finding out if anyone else in the area has had any issues. The cat coming back twice with symptoms of poisoning doesn't seem like a coincidence.

Both my cats have been in trouble this year. The little one had major problems, stopped eating, wouldn't move, had to go on a drip for a while...was horrible. It all started with a lump in the neck, which must have been infected, as her liver packed up. So I can feel you recent pain Moot.
It would have cost over 2 grand if we hadn't had insurance.
Luckily, she's happy again now : ) Here are some pictures I took of her last night, Dora:
Thanks. My parents were away on holiday - they got a call on Friday morning saying she wasn't eating or drinking so they scooted back. Apparently she didn't even lift her head when they got there. They took her to the vet who finished her off. She was old and had a good life, and my parents hadn't expected her to last as long as this, so she's done pretty well.Â
They're here for such a short time. Â The only pet we had that really hung on was an old farm cat called Shiraz who ground his way to age 18. Â I wonder how Pasolini is going; hopefully well, fat and warm.

Yeah, I did wonder about this. She likes to roam in the Spring/Summer, and has been known to sod off for a couple of days at a time, so she definitely does the rounds. She's a lot better now anyway, so thanks everyone, although apparently her protein levels are ridiculous, which led to a brief cat aids scare. Looks like they may have caught something unrelated to the poisoning perhaps, more tests are due next week, but at least she's home and acting fine.Â
@Mod: Those 'postman's leg' bones - my dog loves them, but if I left him alone with one he'd demolish the whole thing. Do you let your dog ingest it, or take it away when he starts to get properly into it? I'm always a little worried about that amount of bone doing some damage on the way through.
