I've had the Old Grand-dad 114 thanks to a bourbon loving mate (rum's my thing), and thought it was lovely. We had a night of bourbon tasting not long ago, with Old Fitzgerald 12 Year Old, Buffalo Trace, and a couple of others that I can't remember the names of. Enjoyed 'em all though.
Had some Woodford the other evening, couldn't tell you which version. It was adequate, certainly well ahead of Jack, which is only good for mixing, if that.
I like tha burrb neat, iceless and as strong as I can get. I am a simple creature.
Quick question: are any of these whiskies any good? Recommendations? Glenfiddich, glenlivet, cardhu, glenrothes, lagavulin, macallan, talisker, glengrant, oban.
Glenfiddich, Glenlivet and Macallan are huge selling worldwide brands, Glenlivet is probably the best now imo.
Glenrothes I'd guess is the no age statement, I was unimpressed.
Cardhu is a vatted malt, but they don't call it that any more. Haven't had it for so long that it won't be the same stuff.
Lagavulin stands out from the rest as being very peaty, classic drop, but jumping in feet first stuff.
Talisker is always OK.
Not a clue about the other two.
