I did a quick search and couldn't find a thread - feel free to tell me if I've missed something
Inspired by @davyK in the SNES mini thread, what have been your biggest gaming regrets?
The biggest one for me was probably trading my MegaDrive with at least 15 boxed games for less than a hundred quid - in my defence I was only 15 at the time, but damn, I wish I still had it!
I’ve been playing video games since Pong, but I somehow managed to not play a single RPG (my absolute favourite genre) until I picked up Baldur’s Gate in PC World one day. I wish I’d discovered them sooner.
Letting my mum take my original Gameboy and games into the school she worked in. Wasn't at all bothered at the time. Never saw it again of course and now I'd love to have it sitting on the shelf.
Interesting that a lot so far has been about getting rid of something - I guess it's easier to regret when you don't have an item any more.
Another for me was not buying a PS2 at the time - I was a poor student and didn't have the cash, but there were so many games on that system I wanted to play, though I DID get a Gamecube, and that is one of my all time favourite systems
Not playing Demons Souls when I actually imported it (I actually sold it to someone on here, can't remember who), and then not playing it more than a few hours once Uk version dropped. One of those games I wish I had played when it was new. Now I struggle with motivation and time and have so many other games to play. Not missed the boat per se, can still play it but wish I "had been there".
I got rid of all my original Game Boy stuff when I sold off my original model Game Boy Advance to get a Micro. While I sometimes wonder if I should have gotten rid of the Pokemon games, there was no way of transferring them forward, I would never have looked at them and the battery saves would be dead by now anyway. Off the top of my head, selling off the .hack games was a bit silly, although, again, I would never have touched them again.
In general, I've not gotten rid of stuff so few massive regrets like that. It's more buying a shit game or failing to get something limited edition. Sometimes I regret modern collector's editions are too expensive to be worth buying.

Sending some retro stuff to Prime, who'd mistyped his address, and not thinking to include a return address. Asterix was a good game; take my word for it.
Not finishing most games I start. It's not because they're bad or anything, I just forget about it, or think what will come is gonna be too hard so I won't even try.
Missed out on a lot of good stuff this way.
Oh, and not playing pc games. Got loads that I want to play, but I'm just not playing them, without any real reason.
I regret getting too heavily invested in games for story reasons. That has led to many poor purchases.
Halo 3 and MGSV are the main culprits. Hype is usually inversely proportional to my enjoyment.

Letting my mate choose Hitmonchan leaving me with Hitmonlee.
Every time I have died after getting a boss down to a small amount of health and gone kamikaze rather than playing through their attack pattern one more time.
It's clear that I was an idiot on drugs at the time, but selling my import US Snes along with a raft of all the classic games. And to similar vein, though less so, doing the same with my Dreamcast.
I take some solace in that I still have my import N64 and Gamecube.
Getting pissed in the local cab office with some bloke called Ryan, popping home to grab a MDII & Micro Machines 2 for sum retro gamez, leaving it there to collect in the morning then never seeing Ryan or the Megadrive again ever.
Also, lending Virtua Cop + gun to a mate whose family's Woundwort sized house rabbit chewed clean through the gun wire. On the plus side, the MDII in the story above belonged to him, so I accidentally cancelled out his debt a couple of years later.
