I have a substantial collection of concept art books and am thus an expert. Aye, Sparth is a good shout. Stephen Martiniere's Quantumscape and Exodyssey are very nice. Oxide 2X by Kim Hyung-Tae is excellent for character art and I want Oxide 2 but fuck paying 300 beans ferrit.
My only concession to straight game art is the HL2 book, which is middling.

Atari 2600 box cover art is still a winner for me. The nostalgia makes it better for me - even the colours and fonts they used on the boxes remind me of long forgotten summers and the taste of almost flat Fanta orange for some reason.
I have some laminated print-outs on A1 display cards from a company my mate worked for that failed in their bid to land the advertising gig for the Dreamcast in the UK. I'd imagine they're one of a kind, but they're inexcusably shit. The Dreamcast logo in sand, the Dreamcast logo poorly photoshopped onto the moon, etc.

me too. The box art particularly from the likes of pysgnosis really were something else. The box art showed a new world which then affected how I viewed and played the game. I presumed the box art to be what the game makers had envisaged their game world to look like. The minimal in game graphics then allowed imagination to take hold and lend more depth to the game itself. For me at least!

Doubt even Guerilla's game designers would be dumb enough to have the player attack something like that with a (presumably metal) spear while dressed as a character from another game.
Having said that I wouldn't put any actual money down against it either.
