Yup the multiplayer demands good teamwork as players can only take on specific roles like air, armour, infantry and support. Decent singleplayer as well.
The SC1 Korean pros have clicked with SC2 and they're playing a superior game to Wings of Liberty and it's just ridiculous to watch. Over 100k viewers too.
I made a HOTS 'community' if anyone fancies joining. Search The Bear and Badger and you should be able to join it. Join then we can add each other as friends easily.
I remember playing the demo to Close Combat 3 over and over. Loved how realistic it was and setting AT gun traps for advancing Panzer groups inbetween houses.
Seems quite hard to get a hold of nowadays. Can't see it on gog and it probably barely runs on modern OS.
I got CC2 from gog or similar but couldn't get it to run. It was so good. Deciding if you had enough troops to assault or if you would go for a delaying action and wait for reinforcements, laying down a mortar smoke screen to cover your assault squad as they advance onto the first house, while your mg team suppresses the enemy, all the while you had two rifle squads flanking round the hedge rows to the north to take out the AT gun that you know they must have so you can role your firefly tank up and really put the pain on them. God it was good.
Guardian article about SC2 and a player called Idra. Nice to see mainstream media take a bit of interest. Idra is pretty amusing to watch, he's so unpleasant to almost everyone when he's losing.
Oil Rush is in the Humble Bundle. I didn't know what it was and was expecting an Oil Tycoon type game. It's actually a decent little RTS, from what little I've played. The interesting thing is you don't control units individually as such, but in blocks of 25/50/100% from whichever base platform they're attached to.
Anyway, it's super cheap as part of the bundle and worth a look. Terrible terrible voice acting though.
Did anyone try out the Company of Heroes 2 multiplayer beta/demo thing over the weekend? I didn't get a chance to try it out but the reviews are making it sound quite interesting.
Oh, forgot to mention after beano distracted me with dune. Planetary Annihilation is getting made. From the same people that did Total Annihilation and Supreme Commander. Could be good.
