Thai red beef curry.

Hmmm - not sure about this.

I mean, one of the foods I would pick would definitely be Chinese Hotpot. But here’s the problem - hotpot is just a central thing and the food in it...can be anything. So hotpot basically allows you to have every food you want. The alternative is to ban foods like hotpot.

So...can’t decide if Cocko’s thread is insufficiently regulated with loopholes galore, or he’s a massive racist who is trying to exclude the fair people of China.

Chinese hotpot is quality, only had it twice but one of those was a huge effort at an ex-ex with all her Vietnamese and Chinese relatives over, so much food. I think it's a valid take.

Sounds like it's Cosmo in one bowl, Cosmo was allowed so sling it in, even if it does seem like a cop out, and takes a spot away from something that you might actually really really like

I like the idea of a buffet.

But.

Too often it ends up as an unfocussed and unsatisfying car crash of a meal.

You need to think about what you want.

I try and avoid them now. When in company it can become a pretty sloppy social affair with people out of synch eating and browsing.

Which, sorry I have to be honest, is kinda how I feel about mash on a roast

But plenty of my friends think it's great so maybe I'm the weirdo, in fact I am the weirdo as I like my mash lumpy with skin in it

But there HAS to be roast potatoes too. Mash and roast. On occasions we have had 3 types - boiled as well. We love our spuds.

What you describe is kind of spuds boiled in their skins until they fall apart. That's a good 'un too.

Damn, this thread made me realise that since turning into a soy boy a few years ago, I now couldn't really name any dishes I feel like OMG THIS IS THE BEST. I guess because I have no nostalgic feeling one way or the other to the stuff I've been eating lately, don't get me wrong, it's been delish, but nothing that's coming close to how I felt about stuff like a good trifle, or black pudding, or sushi, etc.

Accidentally gave myself a small sad there.

I'll take a tub of dairy free Ben & Jerries then, I guess.
