Asides from the nauseating jingoism, horrific military-porn and dumbfounding stereotypes that make it quite possibly the most blatantly right wing hanger I think I've ever played (and which just served to remind me that I need to watch Team America again soon) I found the gameplay really stodgy and repetitive.

Just like every other CoD game it really suffers from ghost train syndrome of enemies popping out to kill you when you trigger them, which when they do you then have to reload the game and repeat to kill them which is then easy because you know exactly where they are and what they are going to do.

The series really hasn't moved on at all. Maybe it's playing Halo: CE that's spoiled me for it but it all seems very old fashioned, even compared to a game that's 18yo.

I've now watched a playthrough of this, and having made a point of playing, and enjoying, every cod campaign till now, shan't be engaging with this one. It's all sorts of gross, some of the series most icky politics, with some of the series most pathetic "controversial" cross-points yet. It's probably time to put a fork in it. This series is done, and is only for gun-nuts now.

Saying it's for the gun nuts is tad ridiculous, it plays well mechanically and has gameplay design more in line with the older titles and provides a enjoyable platform for me to spend my time. Of which I have a lot of at the moment.

Yeah it was acting up a bit yesterday think it's on Activisions servers end, but in general it worked.

Yeah mechanics and politics don't get a free ride as separate and I think by now I've put my colours on the mast as to my own political opinions, which means you can ignore them of they don't jive with your own. The LT/RT is still the best in the business but I don't want to be involved in what is not more than a glorified advert for the armed forces.

May be worth bearing in mind my mum is a Northern Irish Catholic and that shouldn't play a part but it does and my own history is coloured by that. Whether this fits into cod or not is a secondary qu but thought I should clarify why I feel this way.

Anyway - BR mode dropping today. Should be epic. The multiplayer on this is simply the best its ever been so hopefully this is good too.

It's standalone if you don't have MW as it's free to play. Otherwise you access it inside MW like the other parts of the game.

150 players, squads, vehicles... this sounds like a great mix of CoD and Battlefield.
Will definitely give this some time alongside Apex Legends.
