First or second can't remember. I parked it midway through 3 last night. Looking forward to more later but it feels like a game you need to be in the mood/zone for...
Levels are pretty long - had a short and still on the one I started on
Though I did do the
Spoiler:
Pico 8 en route, which was kinda fun!
But annoyed that, in a way I couldn't really predict, I missed the blue heart again. Well at least I know how to get it next time... Hope there's some sign paying for got & missed strawberries!
Through that bit. Next chapter seems more fun. Then (per Jon's spoilered screeny...) I'm kinda close! Though many B-sides, hearts and strawberries await still...
Very good game - will chuck thoughts in Just Completed. A solid [9] I reckon. Still plenty more to do - haven't even unlocked the core, hopefully the strawberry counter will help me with a second pass / sweep up. And maybe some B-sides (only found two cassettes so far...)
Done the first two B-sides. Both excellent. Up to 89 strawbs with level 1 "done" though no deathless run (does that unlock the gold star, @jonb? Anything else on top??)
Gold star is for doing a 100% run in a level, i.e. play through the whole level and get all strawbs, blue heart and tape on the way. I think that's all.
The gist: modern life is complicated and stressful. If you want to feel better about yourself, don't read a self-help book, learn from Celeste instead.
Jon very kindly gifted me this as thanks for me sending over my Switch, so I thought I’d give it a quick go and swiftly lost a few hours to it. Most of them were spent on the B-side to chapter 2, which cost me 530 deaths. I’m not sure it’s my kind of game, as I seem to have lost the knack for platformers, and the 360 pad feels terrible to play with, but it’s a lovely looking game and very tightly designed. Not sure i’ll persevere with strawberries or B-sides because they’re a bit beyond me.
The PS4 pad wasn't quite good enough for it either.
I was around 400 deaths on that B-side. They're definitely meant as optional post-credits challenges really. Worth getting through the main game first at least, and then hopefully it'll inspire you to further feats.
You need a good d-pad for Celeste. It's the only way to nail the 8 directional movement required for the tricky bits. The switch is actually perfect for it because the buttons are separated.
Took me 45 minutes to get through the Pico-8 bit last night. Fuuuck me. Knowing that I’d have to to do earlier stages of it to go back in and get strawberries meant I belligerently got them all. I disliked the mechanic in the hotel though, especially cos I hate fast moving jerky enemies. Still, managed a decent amount of strawbs. I like t but I have a hard time chunking it, if I sit down to play it I need to finish a chapter.
