Is it PC or PS4 for you with Borderlands, bollo?

Can always jump in with my level 30-odd Gunzerker and help ya get over the line if PS4. I'll be a tad overpowered but you'd witness the glory first hand.

I still need to install Wolfenstein The Old Blood. Weird that people who loved New Order seemed to think OB lukewarm but those who grimaced at NO loved OB.

I've seen one of those for about £6 on PS4.  I assumed it had been discounted heavily due to shitness.  Checking Amazon now, it's Old Blood that's cheap.

I have played both recent wolves
    - NO is good to start, slightly fades, and has one of the worst end bosses ever. [8] cos of freshness and fun shooting shit down willy nilly but also offering a bit of sneaky sneaky
    - OB OS more of the same for the first half (so a bit meh), but then goes amusingly batshit. Quite a bit shorter, and a [7].

Titty 2 also a [7], doom a stingy [8]. My marks skewed by me sucking at this genre and also not enjoying it overly.

    Was SpecOps 3P??
  • I still hold out hope for another Metroid Prime to come along and fuck us all up.

FEAR 2 on last gen had a great single player campaign.

I gave up on blops and blops 3 pretty quickly, found them both too by the numbers plus 3 was just odd.

    Destiny sp was dreadful.

I loved halo 3 and quite liked reach, have avoided 4&5.

I very my doubt I'll be buying another FPS any time soon, it just all seems to be the same or worse than last gen. I think the genre has run its course.

Isn't there a hdupscaleathon version of Bulletstorm out soon? Such an underrated game and campaign.

April 2017 Bulletstorm Remaster release on PS4 and Xbone. Bloody fantastic game. I loved the campaign. So much fun.
  • I think the halos have been emblematic of what the OP is on about. Timeline marries up too.

last great Halo campaigns were H3/ODST.

Reach was uneven as hell, and it's miriad issues with both MP and SP had a lot to do with SP mechanics not working in MP and vice versa. What up bloom. the shooting mechanics were frustrating in MP. Bloom was a fine mechanic for the SP. In FF, the enemies and nice timing of headshots etc worked really well. In MP, where the mechanics around aiming had basically been point and shoot, bloom was frustrating as hell.

The re-using of sections/maps in SP, FF and MP could have worked, but it just ended up compromising a lot of the play spaces.

FF maps were awesome, for instance, but then somehow didn't work anywhere near as well as SP campaign spaces where the player just went a to b to c.

H4 and and H5 campaigns are both basically gash. By H5 the MP mechanics are freakin top notch and the player movement is awesome, however, it doesn't translate to the SP at all, really. The few spots where you can use clamber etc in SP are so by the numbers it's ridic.

I'd suggest the issue is the difference in what you're shooting. MP you're shooting other spartans, who move way differently, in campaign, it's a whole raft of different types of enemies, and everything about how the guns and the enemies interact is different to MP.

Mp is where the focus is with h5, so the campaign just turns into an afterthought, IMO.

(I'd actually prefer it if the MP turned into a purely DL/running experience, and the campaigns were a whole other team and disc releases.)

I like that metro has no MP. From what I've seen, a lot fo the time, you're shooting no human monsters, so it's best to focus on SP, rather than turn mechanics designed around shooting monsters into human v human.

    Waffling.
I'm still great and you still love it.

Also I'd seriously add Metro: Last Light to that OP. That was a terrific single player effort as was the first game.

Added as was released in last five years.

  • Anyone bored of FPS campaigns should give DOOM a try because it's often sub-£20 and it is a good chunk of stupidly fast, retro-informed modern shooting fun. It covers itself, and you, in gory glory.

    It's a first person Revengeance.
  • If you get the disc version, it's £15 everywhere I looked.

  • Did anyone ever complete RAGE on the previous generation? It was a massive sales flop, the core shooter mechanics were suppose to be solid. I briefly played it but never went back to it.

Loved RAGE, bar the absolute bullshit end. It was essentially a tech demo really.

  • FEAR 2 on last gen had a great single player campaign.

Aye, I did like it, but original FEAR is my choice. I really wanna play them again. So replayable. Original FEAR is one of my most played single player games.

FEAR 1 & 2 are amazing. Third is exceptionally meh. First two prob my fave fps campaigns of all time.
  • I'm with DS on Rage (Jackal canyon oh my!) and the chuffing magnificent Blands 2. A numberwang I can actually appreciate and oozing personally. Also Handsome Jack is the very bestest of baddies.

I'll get to Doom eventually, but there's something else taking up all my time right now.
  • Echoing Metro, Call of Jaurez and The Line. Titanfall was very good but felt incredibly shallow on almost every aspect.
equinox_code "I need girls cornered and on their own"
  • Fear 1 and 2 were great, as was Call of Juarez Gunslinger. There's something missing from most FPS campaigns these days but not sure what it is. Nothing has come close to the brilliance of Half Life 2 or Halo 3. Titanfall 2 was fine but a bit vacuous and wishy washy.

I love the immersion and many campaigns just seem to lack it.
