Watching a documentary on 9/11 last Night (think it was channel 4) Fascinating look at the response on the white house side in the initial few hours. Was generally raging to my wife at the end though. George W is one of the talking heads and for the most, all things considered its interesting to hear what was going through his mind (insert "apart from a lonely fly" joke). Got very angry at the end though when he stood by his decision to go to war in both Iraq and Afghanistan - his justification being that America didnt get attacked again on home soil. There's a glib vibe to W at the best of times but its really enraging here and given whats happened in the last 2 weeks its amazing to see him think History will regard him as making the right call (obviously the doc was shoot before this week but still, likely last year so they probably knew the withdrawl was coming from Trump)

Because it will be private individuals bringing cases against people who abetted abortion, and not the state, abortion providers couldn't bring a lawsuit to prevent it from happening. The supreme court basically chose not to hear the case because there was no party to file against. Roe v Wade got overturned in a whimper without the supreme court having to show the world their right wing leanings.

According to today's Taipei Times, presidents in attendance at the 9/11 memorial: Clinton, Obama, Biden. It doesn't mention Bush. Trump was in New York... to commentate a boxing match.

EDIT: Bush was in Pennsylvania, for the Flight 93 memorial.

This was the actual commentary booth. On the left you have Junior Dos Santos, former UFC heavyweight champion. He's the nicest guy and to be fair to him did his level best to keep the conversations with a former president in his second language steered towards the fights. But the funniest moments were when you could tell Trump was liking him and what he had to say, so was saying "Hey, Junior" etc and there's his actual son turning round thinking he's talking to him. Don Jr barely got a look in. Probably rattling from the lack of coke.
