Vampire Survivors - Xbox GP/PC/iOS/Switch

Wot I said in the Xbox thread - Vampire Survivors is kind of a masterclass in minimalist game design, and is great for something to play in between doing other shit. You know a run will always be 30 mins max, and the gameplay is a perfect blend between relaxing and moments of challenge where you need to thread some needles. It's so simple to jump back into it with little you need to remember, but there's some nice tactical depth and stuff to discover. Good shit.

Vampire Survivors is a time survival game with minimalistic gameplay and roguelite elements.
Hell is empty, the devils are here, and there's no place to run or hide. All you can do is survive as long as you can until death inevitably puts an end to your struggles. Gather gold in each run to buy upgrades and help the next survivor.Starting Tips
- Take your time to grab gems and items, they won't disappear.
- Get two or three offensive weapons at first, but focus on leveling them up one at a time.
- Armour and Luck are good starting power-ups to spend money on.
- Refund power-ups often, it's free, and try new upgrade paths. -

It starts off absolutely atrocious (and looks reeeeeeeeeelly bad). I am told I need to get more gold and buy upgrades before it gets good. Hopefully not more than half an hour max cos the first run I did was so painfully shite.

Progress is fairly exponential once you start getting some upgrades and good builds under your belt, so it only takes a few runs to really get rolling and be getting to the crazy late stage stuff regularly.
It's a great game to play while listening to something else on another screen, you can really zone out with it. I adore auto turrets in games for some reason, so the passive playstyle is very satisfying to me. -

I'm not sure how long it took me, I didn't finish it on the first few runs, but it was almost certainly longer than half an hour.
If you want to see what weapons can combine, look at the Grimoire in the pause menu. I had assumed this meant lore stuff so ignored it, but it actually shows what combines into what. There's also this cool website I've been using as well. Warning, shows every weapon so if you consider that a spoiler don't go there. -
The Witch character. Do her cats start attacking herself at some point, or is it a card I had activated causing that? Absolute mayhem. I'd picked up quite a few duplicators so the whole screen was just filled with clouds of cats scrapping, but then evil cats flying at my from all directions. Utter chaos.

Amazing.
The cats are mental and do a few different things. They will just randomly attack you (doing double their normal damage) if you cross paths. They also pick up items if they cross over them and those items further affect the cats behaviours.Gamertag: gremill -

This game is insane. I managed to stack so much shit that the screen was filled with damage and the game lagged down to like 5FPS, on my 5800X3D...

I've just been playing it via cloud on my laptop as my daughter has claimed ownership of the living room so I can't get near the main TV. Works well, even when things are going completely nuts.

On a base Xbox One, it can't handle picking it a clover or the things the bosses drop. Screen just freezes for a second or two.

That's unfortunate but doesn't surprise me given the gap between the One's CPU and modern chips. It's kind of impressive that the game seems to track all the gems and many other things across the entire map, I think enemies are instanced/repeated as you move across the map though.
There's a performance mode option in the settings on the PC at least that I haven't tried yet, it might help though perhaps it's enabled by default on consoles. -
I can't wait to play some more today.
Not everything is The Best or Shit. Theres many levels between that, lets just enjoy stuff. -
From what I have read online, it despawns normal enemies as they move off screen.

Aye and I think it respawns the 'bosses' that drop the chests as you leave them behind too.
I'm generally avoiding all wikis or other info, and will probably be scrolling past some info here, just because I like to go into games blind and figure it out myself. More fun that way.
