Seriously brilliant game, played it for three/four hours straight with Nexx last night. It is essentially LoL/DOTA2 lite which is no bad thing as it makes it incredibly accessible. You are pitted against each other in teams of three and battle over a 2D are consisting of two 'lanes' to the enemy base, protected by a group of turrets.

Turrets will slice your health so you need to co-ordinate your assualt with the autospawning Critters that your base churns out... they will take the flak from the turrets whilst you do the damage. Your opposition is doing the exact same thing as you, and each person takes charge of one of the six currently available characters which fulfill roles such as Healer, Tank, Glass Cannon etc.

Each character has a standard attack and then two specialised skills. Leon is an Assassin style character so he can leave a dummy copy of himself and disappear to compensate for his low hit points. Each of those skills can be upgraded ingame by earning Solar from killing enemy critters, characters, collecting it from the level or beating up the Creeps that hang around between lanes. Before a game starts you have the ability to select up to three skills for each of your abilities, so for Leon's standard attack you can choose between Speed, Damage, Critical and +Damage for Backstabbing.

In that way, it plays quite similarly the Hero mechanic inWarcraft 3, not surprising as the orignal DOTA was based on a Warcraft 3 tower mod. As a game progresses you need to kill enemies, level up your skills to make you extra effective and maximise your gold intake whilst taking out enemies and pushing against their turrets and making return trips to your base to upgrade.

It all sounds terribly complicated but it isn't, they've streamlined it into a lovely slick experience and the fact that their are only six characters mean it is all pretty balanced. Me and Nexx were dominating with a Tank/Healer combo last night and were unstoppable for three games until the enemy team forumlated a strategy to beat us, which we were able to counter by slightly changing up our load out.

I heavily implore you to download it and give it a whirl tonight with me, Nexx and Reg. The three vs three nature of the game means it is ideally suited to a small gathering of forumites and the fact it is oly 800 points is an absolute steal.

Edge gave it an [8] for reference and the 80s Saturday Morning Breakfast Cartoon stylings are bloody brilliant. One of the Characters is called Froggy G and he has his own shit 80s 'cool' hiphop song. What isn't to love?

I've already spoken to Petey about it, we can't find a trigger easily and I can workaround it by Bookmarking threads and going through my profile althouth sometimes it blocks out those too so I get them by going through other people's profiles and my oh my aren't you all such interesting folk?

have DLed Fable so should have a blast a bit later. Never played a MOBA game so sounds like a handy way to learn the ropes if nothing else. 

I'm holding out for a code for Awesomenauts but definitely wanna get on it. Sounds great.

Was intrigued by The Walking Dead at that price, but would be more inclined to wait until it's all out and released as a pack at a reduced price.

I plonked for The Walking Dead, really enjoyed it. It has it's limitations but offers a good blend of story and action. Of course it ends on a cliffhanger, there is the temptation to wait for a bundle discount though, depends how frequently the episodes drop.

Seems odd as you can get a season pass discount on PC and PS3 can't you? Must be some Live rules preventing it on the 'Box? Adds up to 2000MS and if you shop around it could make it the cheapest but still… mild irritation you can't just bang in an order for a season.

Works fine with a pad. It was an interesting game to play, several instances of decisions to be made, I wonder how much they shape the experience further on. The end screen gives you a breakdown of how your decisions fared with others. The story claws you in though and you invest care into your responses and decisions, some do have to be given in a pinch however.

I didn't feel the need to elaborate in the acronym considering 1) Google, 2) I just wrote an entire post explaining how one works.

It sounds like it will get some support in the short term at least.  The developers have been teasing that they're working on two new characters on the official forums.  They've also said that they've made some tools which will make it a lot easier and quicker for them to implement new items into the game.

You'll be able to finish The Walking Dead in under 2 hours. I really enjoyed it, seemed sympathetic to the world of the comics/tv series. A few cameos and the occasional moral quandary. Worth the £3 or so. 

Live currently up and down like the bestest tart in town. Death by Minecraft eh MS?

Ah, so I shouldn't blame MS then.

Hope this isn't going to be a repeat of the BBC/iplayer issue which took them ages to resolve.
